Photos for Home Decorating
Do you have a dull, drab wall in desperate need of help? Have you considered decorating it with mirrors or adorning it with paintings? Instead of all that, why not create a "Photo Wall"? Easy enough to make, your new photo gallery will add interest and drama to any room. Here's how to do it.
Select the photographs you want to display. Purchase a compatible frame for each. For a dressier effect, add matting to the photos before framing them. Your local photo dealer can help. Don't worry about using matching frames. Part of the beauty of a photo wall is that each photograph is different-and so, too, its frame.
Take a roll of masking tape and outline the border area where the photos will go. Start the border around four feet from the floor and run it to within a foot of the ceiling. Use as much or as little space as you wish.
Next, lay your photos out on the floor, just as they'll go on the wall. (It's easier to change them before hanging them than after.) Once everything looks right, make a sketch of the arrangement on paper.
Then grab the hammer and some picture hangers (available from your local photo dealer or specialty store) and go to it. Use your sketch as an assembly guide.
Within minutes, that once-bare wall will be gone forever. In its place: a dramatic photo gallery sure to be the focal point of your home for years to come.
